Arlene Lashier Stories
Arlene (Rentsch) Lashier grew up on farms in South Dakota and Iowa in the 1920s and 30s. After moving to Iowa in the 1970s, she became interested in Clear Lake’s unique history, writing and narrating Clear Lake stories to school classes and other groups. This work evolved to her own radio program “Remembering the Way We Were” which aired on KCMR, Mason City for six years. Her programs were a mix of stories of her early life on the farm and interviews with long time Clear Lake residents. These are transcripts from those broadcasts.
